What does this tool do?

This calculator simulates the output of a statistical model designed to predict a lineup's performance. It goes beyond individual player stats to account for "synergy"—the idea that some players are more effective when they share the court with specific teammates.

What are "Base Ratings"?

Each player has a base offensive and defensive value. This represents their average contribution to the team's point differential per 100 possessions, independent of their teammates. This value would typically be derived from a complex model like Regularized Adjusted Plus-Minus (RAPM).

What are "Synergy Effects"?

The "Synergy Breakdown" shows the interaction effects between specific pairs of players. A positive value means a pair performs better together than their individual stats would suggest (e.g., a great point guard and a great roller). A negative value indicates a poor fit (e.g., two players who need the ball to be effective).

How should I interpret the results?

This is a demonstrative tool. The goal is to identify potentially powerful or problematic lineup combinations that might not be obvious from traditional box scores. In a real-world scenario, these insights would guide further video analysis and on-court experimentation.
